Chad Tracy retires after nine seasons

Washington Nationals v Arizona Diamondbacks

Washington Nationals v Arizona Diamondbacks

Norm Hall

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that veteran Chad Tracy has decided to retire from baseball after a nine-year career in the big leagues. Tracy, 33, spent the spring with the Angels but they cut him despite a decent showing, as he hit .303 in 33 at-bats.

Tracy spent most of his time at the infield corners, but did play in the outfield corners early on in his career. He came into the Major Leagues with the Diamondbacks and spent six years with them before moving onto the Nationals, Cubs, and Marlins. In nearly 3,000 career plate appearances, Tracy hit .274 with 86 home runs and posted a .772 OPS.
