Dillon Gee pitched well yesterday in his first start since July surgery to remove a blood clot from his shoulder, throwing 6.1 innings of one-run ball against the Padres.
Gee took the loss because the Mets’ offense didn’t give him any support, but he allowed just three hits and averaged 88 miles per hour with his fastball.
That’s down a bit from his average of 90 mph in 2012 and Gee also told Adam Rubin of ESPN New York that his command was a little shaky, but for his first start back since a potentially life-threatening health problem eight months ago it was a solid, encouraging outing.
