According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Korean infielder Jung-Ho Kang is expected to be posted by his team in the Korea Baseball Organization next week, making the 27-year-old available for bidding in the heart of the MLB offseason.
The KBO still uses the old posting system that makes teams give blind bids to win exclusive negotiating rights, so Kang is not exactly a free agent. There is speculation about how well his power production will translate to the majors, but he hit .354/.457/.733 with 39 home runs and 115 RBI in 116 games this past season for the Nexen Heroes. There will be bidders. Kang’s highlights in the hitter-friendly KBO are a pretty great Youtube watch ...
Kang played shortstop in Korea, but the word from scouts is that he profiles better at third base.
