Outfielder Matt den Dekker broke his right wrist bracing his fall after a dive in today’s Grapefruit League game against the Detroit Tigers. Per ESPN’s Adam Rubin, GM Sandy Alderson is going to wait for more evaluations before anything else:

“We don’t know how serious it is,” Sandy Alderson said. “It’s serious enough, but we won’t know any details about the exact condition or recovery time until the doctors take a look up in New York. But the initial films came back positive.”

Splitting time between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Buffalo last year, den Dekker hit 17 home runs with a .779 OPS while playing superb defense. The Mets are hoping he can provide some relief in their otherwise lackluster outfield sooner rather than later.
