MLB’s annual General Managers Meetings are taking place this week in Boca Raton, Florida, but the Mets’ Sandy Alderson will not be in attendance as he undergoes an unspecified medical procedure.

Alderson fainted while talking to reporters last Wednesday at Citi Field, with the Mets later saying that it was due to him missing breakfast and feeling lightheaded after being under the press room lights. Anthony DiComo of MLB.com was told by a team official that this week’s procedure is unrelated and that it was scheduled prior to the World Series.

The defending National League champion Mets have sent assistant general manager John Ricco, special assistant J.P. Ricciardi, and VP of player development and scouting Paul DePodesta to Florida this week as they get started with their offseason plan.
