As expected, the New York Mets activated outfielder Michael Conforto this morning. He’s in today’s lineup, batting leadoff against Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals at 1:05PM this afternoon.

Conforto was on the disabled list due to shoulder surgery he underwent last September. He took six at-bats during spring training, registering one hit. His return comes much earlier than first expected, with his post-surgery timeline originally projecting a May return.

Conforto hit .279/.384/.555 with 27 home runs and 68 RBI in only 440 plate appearances for the Mets last year. New York is off to a hot 4-1 start, so getting him back so quickly only adds to the early season feel-goods in Queens.
