R.A. Dickey after dominating the A’s: “Don’t anybody ask me questions about the roof”

R.A. Dickey

R.A. Dickey

Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey dominated the Athletics -- proud owners of the American League’s best offense -- on Saturday afternoon, holding them to two runs over 8 1/3 innings. The right-hander limited the A’s to five hits and a walk while striking out four. It’s arguably his best start of the season, with the only other competitor being the 6 2/3 shutout innings he threw against the Yankees on April 5.

Dickey pitched with the Rogers Centre roof open, which should silence those who have been saying that Dickey struggles under that specific condition. As for the pitcher himself, he didn’t want to address the issue:

Dickey opened his scrum with: “Let me preface, don’t anybody ask me questions about the roof being opened or closed.” #BlueJays

Quietly, R.A. Dickey has rebounded from a tough start to the season. He has now strung together seven together quality starts, and has lowered his ERA to 3.95.
