The Red Sox have had a busy day, signing Felipe Paulino and Alexi Ogando (as well as Bryan LaHair). With some arms in tow, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports now reports that they’re willing to trade reliever Edward Mujica. It’s unclear how much, if any, of Mujica’s $4.75 million salary the Red Sox might be willing to cover in a deal.
Mujica, 30, finished the 2014 season with a 3.90 ERA and a 43/14 K/BB ratio in 60 innings, his first with the Red Sox. He had been coming off back-to-back seasons with an ERA below 3.00, but saw his strikeout rate (17%) dip to its lowest level since 2008 and his walk rate climb to its highest (5.5%) since ’08 as well.
