The Red Sox have signed infielder Brandon Phillips to a minor league contract, WEEI’s Rob Bradford reports.

Phillips, who turns 37 years old on Thursday, went unsigned between the end of last season and today. He spent the 2017 campaign between the Braves and Angels, hitting an aggregate .285/.319/.416 with 13 home runs, 60 RBI, and 81 runs scored in 604 plate appearances.

Phillips had been working out at Georgia Tech when Jon Morosi reported the veteran’s desire to continue playing in April. He’ll serve as infield depth for the Red Sox.
