MLB.com’s Jeffrey Flanagan reports that the Royals have signed pitcher Wily Peralta to a one-year deal worth $1.525 million. He has a club option for the 2019 season worth $3 million with a $25,000 buyout.
Peralta, 28, has spent the past six seasons with the Brewers. Across 120 starts and 12 relief appearances, the right-hander owns a 4.48 career ERA with 511 strikeouts and 257 walks in 704 2/3 innings. His 2017 was disastrous, as he finished with a 7.85 ERA.
The rebuilding Royals seem to have a solid amount of pitching depth as it is, so Peralta will likely end up pitching the middle innings out of the bullpen.
