The solo home run Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas hit in the bottom of the second inning is currently the difference in ALCS Game 6 against the Blue Jays, as his team is holding onto a 2-1 lead. Moustakas lined a David Price offering to right-center, and a fan reached over and caught the baseball. It looked like fan interference, but the umpires upheld the ruling upon replay review.

Looking at the Kauffman Stadium ground rules, it appears the umpires made the correct call. Or, at least, there wasn’t enough definitive evidence upon which to overturn the initial ruling.

The fan who caught the ball was interviewed during the game by Erin Andrews of FOX Sports and fastidiously defended the accusation that he reached over the fence a la Jeffrey Maier.
