Ramon Castro started at third base for the A’s last night as Mark McLemore’s wonky right knee acted up.
He went 0-for-3 with an RBI. Castro could start another game or two as Esteban German is still nursing a strained side muscle. German should be considered day-to-day, and McLemore’s playing status is always judged on a game-to-game basis.

Athletics designated infielder Ramon Castro for assignment.
Castro spent more than a month with the A’s earlier this season, but he wasn’t a part of the team’s plans. It’s unlikely that he’ll get claimed off waivers.

MLB suspended Nationals infielder Ramon Castro 105 games for violating baseball’s minor league drug policy.
That’s the largest suspension handed out since the league’s new policy came into effect. Castro, who appeared in nine games for the A’s last season, was hitting .285/.352/.600 in 34 games for Double-A Harrisburg.

Athletics recalled infielder Ramon Castro from Triple-A Sacramento.
The decision to call up Castro, who was hitting .233/.321/.362 in Triple-A, shows that the A’s are content to continue playing Mark McLemore and Esteban German at third base. They had better options available, but they didn’t want to call up Mark Teahen or Adam Morrissey to sit on the bench.

Athletics optioned infielder Ramon Castro to Triple-A Sacramento.
Castro played in two games and got one at-bat during his six days with the A’s.

Athletics recalled infielder Ramon Castro from Triple-A Sacramento.
Castro, who got one at-bat in his first stint with the A’s, is starting at third base tonight. It shouldn’t be the beginning of a trent.

Athletics optioned infielder Ramon Castro to Double-A Midland.
He was still in the majors? Castro could return in September, but he has no real future with the A’s.
