Padres signed RHP Riley Pint to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Pint — the fourth overall selection in the 2016 MLB Draft — hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2024 and was out of organized ball altogether last year. The hard-throwing 28-year-old reliever will be in camp with the Padres as a low-risk reclamation project and is merely extra organizational depth at this juncture of his career.

Guardians signed RHP Riley Pint to a minor league contract.
Pint will head to the minor-league side of camp, according to a team statement. The 27-year-old righty was the fourth overall selection in the 2016 MLB Draft and put together a remarkable comeback to reach the majors with Colorado during the 2023 season after retiring two years prior. He’s merely extra organizational depth at this stage of his career, but he’s heading to the right organization as a reclamation project given their recent success in that department.

Rockies sent RHP Riley Pint outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Colorado’s 40-man roster. Pint is a remarkable story of perseverance to make it back to the majors after stepping away from the game earlier in his career, but he hasn’t been an effective relief option this season at the highest level.

Rockies optioned RHP Riley Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Things have not come together for Pint, who was the team’s fourth overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft. He’s posted a solid 3.10 ERA in 29 innings out of the bullpen in Triple-A with a 38.2 percent strikeout rate, but his work at the big league level has left a lot to be desired with a 21.60 ERA in 3 1/3 innings this season. He figures to continue to get chances to prove himself as a reliever given what the team invested in him.

Rockies recalled RHP Riley Pint from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Pint was the fourth overall selection in the 2016 MLB Draft and took a long-winding road to eventually reach the big leagues back in 2023 as a reliever. The 26-year-old righty figures to operate in middle relief for the Rockies moving forward.

Rockies optioned RHP Riley Pint for Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 26-year-old hurler appeared in just one game during his time with the Rockies, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk in just 2/3 of an inning. He’ll continue to refine his craft at the Triple-A level. Peter Lambert was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move on Wednesday to replace Pint in the Rockies’ bullpen.

Rockies recalled RHP Riley Pint from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Pint goes into the spot opened up when Jake Bird went on the injured list. The fourth overall pick in the 2016 draft had a 2.84 ERA in the minors this season. In 19 innings, he managed to rack up 37 strikeouts but also 18 walks.
  • COL 3rd Baseman #83
The Rockies optioned INF Julio Carreras, INF/OF Hunter Goodman, and RHPs Gavin Hollowell and Riley Pint to Triple-A; Reassigned C Braxton Fulford and OF Jordan Beck to minor league camp.
The Rockies now have 42 active players on in spring camp. Carreras, 24, didn’t make the most of his opportunity in camp going 5-for-27 (.185 AVG), but did show off his power and speed with three of those hits turning into doubles. He spent most of his time in Double-A last season, but while up at Triple-A he slashed .255/.371/.373 in 62 plate appearances.

Rockies optioned RHP Riley Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Pint has made just one relief appearance this season in the big leagues and will head back to the minors ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Athletics.

Rockies recalled RHP Riley Pint from Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Rockies wanted to bring a up a fresh arm to provide some relief to an over-worked bullpen, so Pint will have another opportunity to show what he’s got at the big league level. He has really struggled at Triple-A Albuquerque this season, registering a 6.31 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and a 61/37 K/BB ratio across 41 1/3 innings.
