Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Ronnier Mustelier is giving himself a shot to see some playing time at third base with how he’s hit this spring.
Mustelier is batting .353/.450/.647 with a homer and a triple over 10 Grapefruit League contests. A Cuban defector, the 28-year-old batted .314/.371/.488 with 15 homers and 10 steals between Double- and Triple-A in 2012. He’s probably a longshot to make the Opening Day roster, but nothing can be ruled out with the Bombers desperate for corner infield options.
