Speier had a 4.63 ERA in 38 appearances since being sent down in late April. His stay could be a short one.

Speier had pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, making a strong case to stick around over Randy Williams in the process. He’ll return next month.

Speier is able to play catch every other day. He should be ready to return to the Rockies’ bullpen next spring.
