White Sox pitching prospect Spencer Adams struck out ten hitters over six innings for Double-A Birmingham.
Adams allowed two earned runs on six scattered hits, and he walked just two hitters. Before the White Sox traded for every pitching prospect in baseball, Adams was considered one of the best arms in the system. He locates his 90-92 mph fastball for strikes, and his above-average fastball and solid change keep hitters honest. Even with all the new blood in Chicago, Adams still has a real chance of pitching in the rotation someday.

White Sox RHP prospect Spencer Adams fired eight shutout innings on Thursday for Double-A Birmingham.
Adams allowed only two hits, and he didn’t walk a hitter while striking out six. The 44th pick in the 2018 draft, Adams has one of the best sliders in the White Sox system, and he commands a 92-95 mph fastball when he’s operating at his best. That hasn’t been the version we’ve seen often in 2018, as seen in his 5.50 ERA and 10 homers in 55 2/3 innings. Thursday was an example of what he’s capable, however, and shows why he has a chance to pitch in a rotation someday.
