    The White Sox made the move to free up a spot on their 40-man roster, though it’s not clear why, as they’re now down to 37. Gartrell is batting .304/.385/.609 with one home run in his first 23 at-bats for Charlotte.

    So that’s why Gartrell was mysteriously outrighted off the White Sox’ 40-man roster. The 27-year-old hit .255/.316/.448 with 27 home runs at Triple-A Charlotte last season and was off to a .304/.385/.609 start this year. He was not listed among Chicago’s top 30 prospects by Baseball America.
