    Diamondbacks released RHP Thyago Viera.
Viera was cut loose earlier this month after undergoing Tommy John surgery during spring training. The hard-throwing 32-year-old righty will likely be sidelined until the midway point of the 2026 season given the timing of the procedure. He’s made 53 relief relief appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2017.

Thyago Vieira will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery.
The operation will cost Vieira all of 2025, and potentially a portion of 2026 as well. The hard-throwing right-hander is just organizational depth at this stage of his career.

Diamondbacks sent RHP Thyago Vieira outright to Triple-A Reno.
The 31-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment last weekend as the Diamondbacks needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster. He passed through waivers unclaimed though and it sounds like he’ll accept the assignment at report to Triple-A Reno where he’ll continue to serve as auxiliary bullpen depth.

Diamondbacks designated RHP Thyago Vieira for assignment.
Vieira has been removed from Arizona’s 40-man roster to make room for newly-acquired left-hander A.J. Puk on the Diamondbacks’ active roster. The hard-throwing 31-year-old righty recorded a solid 2.87 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 14/9 K/BB ratio across 15 2/3 innings (11 appearances) for Arizona after being claimed off waivers back in early June from the Orioles.

Humberto Castellanos recorded a two-out save on Saturday in the Diamondbacks’ extra-inning win over the Padres.
With Paul Sewald presumably unavailable after a blown save on Friday night, Castellanos got the call to protect a two-run lead after Thyago Viera served up an RBI double to Donovan Solano and recorded just one out to open the 10th inning. The 26-year-old righty struck out Ha-Seong Kim on a foul tip before coaxing a game-ending fly out from Kyle Higashioka to put out the fire.

Diamondbacks claimed RHP Thyago Viera off waivers from the Orioles.
Arizona had an open 40-man roster spot following lefty Andrew Saalfrank’s suspension, so they’ve filled it by picking up Vieira off waivers from Baltimore after he was designated for assignment earlier this week. The hard-throwing 31-year-old righty is on his third organization in less than a month at this point and figures to get a look in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen right away.

Orioles designated RHP Thyago Vieira for assignment.
The 31-year-old right-hander was acquired from the Brewers last Saturday, but he wound up making just one appearance with the Orioles — giving up three runs on a hit and four walks while he didn’t record a single out. Relief pitching depth around the league is hard to come by, so there’s a chance that he could pique another team’s interest on waivers. Nick Vespi was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move on Monday.

    Orioles activated reliever Thyago Viera.
Viera was acquired from the Brewers on Saturday and will now take his spot in the Orioles’ bullpen. The 31-year-old had a 5.64 ERA in 22 1/3 innings for the Brewer this year but continues to intrigue teams with his raw tools. He has a 95-99 mph fastball and plus stuff but has a career 6.18 ERA since he debuted with the Mariners in 2017. Perhaps the Orioles can unlock another level. Nick Vespi was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Orioles acquired RHPs Thyago Vieira and Aneuris Rodriguez from the Brewers for RHP Garrett Stallings and cash considerations.
Vieira heads to Baltimore in a small trade after being designated for assignment earlier this week after 18 appearances for Milwaukee over the last two years. The hard-throwing 31-year-old righty augments the Orioles’ relief depth moving forward.

Brewers designated RHP Thyago Vieira for assignment.
Vieira loses his spot after posting a 5.64 ERA in 22 1/3 innings out of the pen. He still has the live arm capable of delivering 95-99 mph fastballs, but all it’s gotten him is a 6.18 ERA since he debuted with the Mariners in 2017. Even so, there’s a decent chance that someone will claim him, since he’s making the minimum and can eat innings out of the pen.
