Tim Crabtree, who last pitched in the majors in 2001, worked a scoreless inning in his debut for Double-A Frisco yesterday.
Crabtree, who retired in 2003 after struggling to return from shoulder surgery, had allowed five runs in nine innings for the Rookie AZL Rangers. It’s pretty unlikely that he’ll make it back to the majors, but he certainly picked the right team with which to attempt a comeback.

Tim Crabtree, who had been pitching for Double-A Huntsville, was placed on the voluntarily retired list.
Crabtree had allowed eight runs in 7 1/3 innings this year as he attempted to come back from shoulder surgery. He’ll probably give baseball another try at some point, but he’s done for now.

Tigers signed RHP Tim Crabtree to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Crabtree, who last pitched in the majors in 2001, had a 2.28 ERA in 23 2/3 IP while attempting a comeback in the Texas farm system last season. It’d be nice to see him get back to the majors at age 36, but it would be a bad sign for the Tigers if he made the team out of spring training.

Brewers signed RHP Tim Crabtree to a minor league contract.
Crabtree, 33, didn’t get an invitation to major league camp. The former Ranger was out of the majors last season while rehabilitating a shoulder injury. He’ll need to pitch well for Triple-A Indianapolis before the Brewers will consider calling him up.
