Red Sox signed LHP Tim Hamulack, who had been with the Mariners, to a one-year contract.
This was originally reported as a minor league contract, but the Red Sox decided to add the reliever to their 40-man roster. Hamulack, 27, spent most of last year at Double-A San Antonio and had a 2.09 ERA in 40 appearances. He’ll get a chance to compete for a bullpen spot in spring training, but since it will be a crowded Boston bullpen, he’ll probably head to Triple-A.
