The Pelicans and free agent Arinze Onuaku have agreed on a two-year contract, according to Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The first year is unguaranteed and the second year is a team option. Onuaku is a 26-year-old PF who has played two seasons in the D-League since leaving Syracuse in 2010. Last year he averaged 12.6 points, 9.5 rebounds and 0.9 blocks as a member of the Cavaliers-affiliated Canton Charge.
  • Power Forward #21
The Cavaliers signed Arizne Onuaku to a second 10-day contract on Monday.
Onuaku’s first 10-day contract expired Monday, but the Cavaliers decided to re-up the 26-year-old for another 10-day audition. Onuaku only played one minute during his first 10-day contract, so it goes without that his fantasy value is essentially non-existent.
  • Power Forward #21
The Cavs have recalled F/C Arinze Onuaku from the Canton Charge on Sunday, and he will be available to play vs. the Wizards.
During the 2013-14 season Onuaku has played a total of 25 minutes, obviously he is not a fantasy option in any league.
  • Power Forward #21
    Cavaliers sign F Ariza Onuaku.
It’s a 10-day deal and the Cavs bringing in another forward probably doesn’t bode well for Anderson Varejao (knee). Onuaku still does not project to be in the rotation.
  • Power Forward #21
Arinze Onuaku signed a training camp deal with the Magic.
Onuaku spent last season in Israel and the Philippines and only has played a total of 11 games in the NBA. The 29-year-old forward was dominant during the summer league with 14.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, and he lands in a decent spot considering the Magic only have 13 guaranteed contracts on the books.
  • Power Forward #21
Arinze Onuaku has made the Magic’s final roster.
After spending last season in Israel and the Philippines, Onuaku has found his way back into the NBA. However, he’s not going to be in the rotation unless there are injuries ahead of him. There is no fantasy value here.
  • Power Forward #21
Orlando intends to activate Arinze Onuaku for the opener against Miami.
The Magic will deactivate Stephen Zimmerman in a corresponding move. Bismack Biyombo is suspended for the season opener, so it’s possible Onuaku could see some spot duty, but it is very unlikely he’ll have any fantasy value whatsoever.
  • Power Forward #34
The Magic have signed Cliff Alexander to a training camp deal.
Branden Dawson, Nick Johnson, Kevin Murphy, Arinze Onuaku and Damjan Rudez’ training camp contracts also became finalized on Thursday, but none of these guys will be impact players in fantasy hoops this upcoming season.
  • Power Forward #21
    Magic waive F Arinze Onuaku.
Several teams have to guarantee contracts for the rest of the season today, so the Magic let Onuaku go. He will likely be headed to the D-League.
  • Power Forward #21
The Pelicans waived F Arinze Onuaku on Tuesday.
He’s spent most of his time in the D-League since coming out of Syracuse, and it’s anyone’s guess if the 26-year-old will earn a spot on another NBA roster.
