Brandon Davies is a candidate to start at power forward for Wednesday’s game as Nerlens Noel moves to center.
Coach Brett Brown was hesitant to commit to Davies at Tuesday’s practice even though he ran with the first team while Henry Sims ran with the second unit. When asked about Davies possibly starting, coach Brown said, “I don’t know. But what I do know is I don’t feel a prisoner to anything. I don’t. It’s not a knock on these guys.” Regardless, Davies makes sense as a flier in standard leagues while we can get behind you parting ways with Henry Sims. Check back before Wednesday’s game for an official update.

The Clippers have invited Summer League standout Brandon Davies to attend training camp.
“We like [Davies’] ability to play multiple positions and he fits with our team,” said Doc Rivers. “He understands team basketball and has been in here all summer working on his game.” Davies will be playing on a make-good contract at camp.

Dewayne Dedmon’s 10-day contract expires on Thursday.
While Dedmon’s contract may be up, the news of Brandon Davies’ injury that will keep him out four-to-six weeks all but assures Dedmon of another 10-day deal. “I like what we’ve seen in him,” coach Brett Brown said. “There’s a size, obviously, but there’s an enthusiasm and an energy. We’ll make the official decision [today] but I’m thrilled with what he’s done so far.” Dedmon is averaging 14.8 minutes, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 3.6 points per game in his five appearances for the Sixers. His fantasy value is obviously a tad limited in standard leagues, but he makes for an interesting play in deeper leagues.

76ers rookie Hollis Thompson chipped in 10 points, two 3-pointers, nine rebounds and three assists in a 103-92 loss to the visiting Nuggets.
Thompson has an ideal situation in a Sixers’ rotation that also offers significant roles for guys like James Anderson, Brandon Davies and Lorenzo Brown. Fantasy owners should be intrigued by Thompson’s 3-point range, if nothing else, and in four starts this season he’s averaging 9.5 points, 1.5 triples and 6.5 rebounds.
  • Center #21
Dewayne Dedmon went scoreless in his Sixers debut Wednesday night.
Dedmon played 14 minutes and was at least able to register seven rebounds. It was interesting to see the newly-signed Dedmon play more minutes than Brandon Davies, so it’s very possible he may win the backup job behind Spencer Hawes. Dedmon isn’t worth a pickup in standard leagues, but he could be an interesting snag in deeper leagues going forward.

    76ers sign C Dewayne Dedmon.
Dedmon had been averaging 15.2 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks in his 15 games in the D-League before signing this 10-day deal with the Sixers, so there is some potential here. He’ll be battling Brandon Davies to be the backup behind Spencer Hawes and is worth a flier for those in deeper leagues just in case he’s able to win that battle.

Brandon Davies had successful finger surgery on Tuesday and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Davies suffered the injury over the weekend and the Sixers should have no problem replacing his 11.6 minutes per game. Dewayne Dedmon has played well on his 10-day deal while Arnett Moultrie should be back soon.

Brandon Davies (dislocated finger) will sit out again on Wednesday.
Davies, who is averaging 2.5 points in 12 minutes per game, is day-to-day with the injury.
  • GSW Shooting Guard #25
Elliot Williams hit 4-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for 12 points, four rebounds and an assist in 23 minutes off the Sixers bench on Tuesday.
Williams is getting more run with Tony Wroten out with the flu, but given that Wroten will be back sooner than later, there’s not much to see here. Coach Brett Brown used his bench quite a bit tonight, as PF Brandon Davies had 11 points in 24 minutes, and James Anderson played 33 minutes and scored 15 off the pine.

In the closing seconds of Saturday’s blowout loss to the Chicago Bulls, rookie forward Brandon Davies dislocated his right pinkie finger.
The 76ers are currently listing Davies as day-to-day, but fantasy owners can safely ignore the BYU product as he’s only averaging 2.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11 minutes per game.
