Brackins will serve as depth now that Francisco Elson is no longer a part of the team.

Brackins was called up from the D-League in early March but hasn’t made any noise since.

Brackins will get moved from the injury report and resume having no value in fantasy leagues.

Brackins wasn’t getting any playing time with the Sixers and he’ll head to Maine in order to gain consistent minutes.

A handful of players have signed in Israel during the lockout, and Brackins is already the fourth NBA player to leave before his contract expired. There is no word yet on why Brackins left, whether due to injury or other causes.

Brackins is joining Angelico Biella, and he was an unrestricted FA after the Sixers decided not to extend him a qualifying contract offer. He was drafted No. 21 overall in the 2010 NBA draft and should fare far better overseas.

Brackins has appeared in just 17 NBA games since being drafted No. 21 overall in 2010. He has a decent jumper for someone that goes 6'10/230, but lacks a real position.

“I’m finally feeling good about it and my shot is back,” Brackins said. “The last time people saw me was in the D-League with a broken jump shot, and now it’s like, ‘Hey, he’s shooting again. He’s finally healthy.’” Brackins’ career has largely been stunted by issues with his health, but he’s going to have to take a training camp type of deal and prove he’s worth a roster spot to stick somewhere.

Memphis had been linked to the Dakota Wizards, but that team was recently purchased by the Warriors. In a similar move, the 76ers have switched from the Springfield Armor (now solely affiliated with the Nets) to the Maine Red Claws -- to grasp the magnitude of this decision, consider that Craig Brackins was Philly’s most prominent D-League assignee last season.

Brackins has some serious skills for a big man that he’s showing off in the minors. These are quite Terrence Williams-esque D-League numbers, but it proves Brackins can play. He’s a good long-term prospect.
