The Sacramento Kings have agreed to a deal to hire Jay Triano as an assistant coach, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Triano had been the assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets, who just hired Kenny Atkinson as their new head coach minutes ago, since 2018, and he’ll now join Mike Brown’s new staff in Sacramento. The Kings need all the help they can get as they try to avoid extending the longest ever playoff drought, so hopefully Triano has some answers.

Interim coach Jay Triano “was informed that he is not in the running” to be the Suns next head coach, according to Arizona radio host John Gambadoro.
Triano was initially included in Phoenix’s batch of candidates, but the fact he’s been ruled out of the process so early suggests that he never really had a chance at getting the full-time gig. After being asked to slog through another rough season and serve as the mouthpiece for a front office that likes to hide and an organization in dire need of direction, the Suns could’ve done a lot better to reward Triano than with this fate.

Jay Triano has reportedly agreed to become the top assistant on James Borrego’s new coaching staff in Charlotte.
Triano served as Phoenix’s interim head coach to close out the year after Earl Watson was fired, but he’ll now go back to being an assistant head coach with the Hornets after the Suns decided to go in a different direction with their head coaching gig.

The Hornets are in serious discussions to add Jay Triano to James Borrego’s coaching staff, according to NBA reporter David Pick.
Triano served as the Suns’ interim coach last season, but Phoenix decided to go in a different direction earlier this month when they hired Igor Kokoskov.
