Joan Beringer accumulated 24 points (9-of-12 FGs, 6-of-9 FTs), 12 rebounds, one assist and seven blocks in Sunday’s win over the Pelicans.
Making a second consecutive start due to the absences of Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid, Beringer was dominant on Sunday. The rookie center became the 12th teenager in league history to record at least 10 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in a game, and the youngest in Timberwolves franchise history. Beringer finished with season-highs in points, rebounds and blocks, putting forth an effort that likely thrilled dynasty league managers rostering him. Beringer is unlikely to be much of a factor in this year’s playoffs, but his time will come.
  • MIN Forward-Center #30
Julius Randle (hand), Rudy Gobert (rest) and Naz Reid (shoulder) are out for Sunday’s game against the Pelicans.
The Timberwolves have nothing to play for on Sunday regarding playoff seeding, so their key players will not be available. Joan Beringer and Jaylen Clark should play plenty, and it would be unsurprising if a Rocco Zikarsky or Enrique Freeman played a few minutes as well. Beringer is the most trustworthy option for those in active fantasy leagues.
  • MIN Forward #19
Joan Beringer amassed 14 points (5-of-5 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, one assist, two steals and one blocked shot in Friday’s win over the Rockets.
With no Rudy Gobert or Naz Reid, Beringer was tabbed to make the second start of his rookie campaign on Friday. The 6-foot-11 center had a good night, not missing a shot from the field or the foul line while also recording three “stocks.” The Timberwolves are locked into their playoff seed, making it possible that Beringer plays significant minutes in Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Pelicans.
  • MIN Forward #19
Donte DiVincenzo, Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, Kyle Anderson and Joan Beringer will start Friday’s game against the Rockets.
The Timberwolves won’t have Joe Ingles or Naz Reid for Friday’s game. Edwards’ return to action takes care of the void left by spot starter Ingles, while Beringer will be the starting center with Reid and Rudy Gobert unavailable.
  • MIN Center-Forward #11
Naz Reid (shoulder) has been ruled out against the Rockets on Friday.
Reid will be unavailable for this game, and with Rudy Gobert (rest) also sidelined, Minnesota will likely turn to Joan Beringer to start at center. This would be the second start of the rookie’s career, and they should give him plenty of minutes with the Timberwolves already locked into the sixth seed.
  • MIN Forward-Center #30
Julius Randle (hand) is out for Friday’s matchup with the Rockets, and Naz Reid (shoulder) is questionable.
Randle will miss a second straight game while Reid lands on the injury report for right shoulder injury maintenance. With Rudy Gobert (rest) already ruled out, the Timberwolves will have to turn to Kyle Anderson and Joan Beringer to pick up the slack in the frontcourt.
  • MIN Center #27
Rudy Gobert (rest) and Julius Randle (hand) are out for Wednesday’s matchup with the Magic.
With both of Minnesota’s big men sitting this one out, Naz Reid should be in line for a featured role against Orlando. Kyle Anderson and Joan Beringer should see additional run, too.
  • MIN Center-Forward #11
Naz Reid (ankle) has been ruled out against the Jazz on Wednesday.
Reid was initially listed as questionable on the second night of this back-to-back, but he has now been downgraded to out. He briefly exited Tuesday’s game, but he was able to return to finish it out, so this shouldn’t be a lengthy absence for him. Joan Beringer should fill out the backup center minutes.
  • MIN Center-Forward #11
Naz Reid (ankle) is questionable to play against the Jazz on Wednesday.
Reid briefly exited from Tuesday’s game with an ankle injury but was able to return to finish it out. However, that injury could keep him sidelined against Utah. Joan Beringer was recalled from the G League, which isn’t a good sign for Reid’s potential availability. Beringer would fill in the backup center minutes if Reid is out.
  • MIN Center-Forward #11
Naz Reid (shoulder) is available for Tuesday’s matchup with the Trail Blazers.
Reid will return following a one-game absence, which should cut significantly into Joan Beringer’s minutes. With Rudy Gobert back after serving a one-game suspension, Reid should handle his usual role as Minnesota’s Sixth Man.
