GM Isiah Thomas is seeking takers for Kurt Thomas and Shandon Anderson.
The two are holdovers from previous regimes in New York. The Knicks would like to bring Wally Szczerbiak, a Long Island native, to the City, but the Timberwolves have turned down the Knicks’ offer of Kurt Thomas and backup point guard Moochie Norris. Thomas is available because Vin Baker is back and the organization believes second-year power forward Michael Sweetney is now ready to start.

Despite earlier reports that the Knicks would be inactive at the trade deadline this season, sources close to team president Isiah Thomas said that he’s shopping Kurt Thomas in an effort to get younger.
Thomas is 32, but because of salary reasons would be hard to swap for a young player. The Knicks would have to take on a bad contract, or else be willing to discuss Mike Sweetney, Trevor Ariza, or Jamal Crawford, none of which they are willing to do.

Even though Kurt Thomas is the only player the Knicks have capable of playing a reliable center, they are looking to add a guard to bring their roster from 11 to 12 players.
We’re not convinced. Thomas isn’t happy about moving away from the four, and the Knicks have a height disadvantage. It only makes sense that they try and find a backup center.

Kurt Thomas is considering opting out of his contract after the season to become a free agent.
Thomas’ announcement could affect the rumors that he will be traded. If he does become a free agent after the season, Dallas would be his first choice.

Kurt Thomas is growing increasingly concerned about his right pinkie, which hasn’t improved in six weeks.
Thomas may have surgery over the summer, but he’s not going to come out of the lineup as long as the Knicks are without Tim Thomas and Allan Houston.

Team president Isiah Thomas is shopping Kurt Thomas and trying to package him with Shandon Anderson’s bad contract and Othella Harrington, a league executive said.
Thomas plans to opt out of his contract after the season anyway, so Isiah is trying to get something for him now. The Mavericks have been a long-rumored destination for Thomas, but Mark Cuban says the team isn’t necessarily interested in making that change right now, suggesting that Thomas’ defensive skills may be better suited for the Eastern Conference than the West.

Kurt Thomas is still troubled by a sore right toe that coach Don Chaney doesn’t believe is improving.
Thomas also has a sore elbow and almost didn’t play Wednesday in New Orleans. However, he had a nice game last night against the Bulls.

Kurt Thomas played the season’s final three months with a dislocated right pinkie on his shooting hand, the New York Post is reporting.
The Knicks called the injury a sprain, but X-rays showed a dislocation and Thomas likely will need surgery.

According to Kurt Thomas’ attorney, the Knicks are closing in on a contract extension that could pay Thomas an additional $30 million over four years beyond the end of his current deal, which expires after the 2004-05 season.
The deadline to extend players is next week. Thomas would be reliniquishing his Larry Bird rights and a free agent payday by signing the extension, but he’s settled in New York and would like to stay.
