Kyle Filipowski produced 25 points (9-of-15 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), 12 rebounds, three assists, one block and three three-pointers in Wednesday’s loss to the Nuggets.
Filipowski finished the night as one of two Jazz players to reach the 20-point mark. His scoring came in a fairly diverse manner — three-pointers, two-pointers, and free throws were all factors. And although he only played 31 minutes, Filiposwki was still able to secure double-digit rebounds before the final horn sounded. He’s now gone for 20 or more points in four straight games and will have a chance to extend that streak to five games against the Rockets on Friday.

Kevin Love (rest) is out for Monday’s matchup with the Heat.
Love’s absence isn’t meaningful now that Jaren Jackson Jr. is on the roster. Kyle Filipowski may see a few extra minutes behind Jusuf Nurkić, but Filipowski isn’t worth a look while competing for minutes in a crowded Utah frontcourt.
  • UTA Forward-Center #23
Lauri Markkanen (knee) is officially out against the Clippers on Thursday.
Markkanen is dealing with a left knee contusion that will keep him out of the lineup for this one. The Jazz will turn to Svi Mykhailiuk, Taylor Hendricks, and Kyle Filipowski to pick up the slack, but Markkanen should return to the starting lineup on Saturday against the Warriors.
  • UTA Forward-Center #23
Lauri Markkanen, Svi Mykhailiuk, Jusuf Nurkic, Ace Bailey and Keyonte George will start against the Grizzlies on Friday.
Markkanen is back in Utah’s starting lineup after an illness kept him out for the team’s recent loss to the Thunder. His return will give the Jazz an elite three-level scorer at the forward position and the team’s leader in points per game. Kyle Filipowski will head back to the bench to help Utah’s depth.
  • UTA Forward-Center #23
Lauri Markkanen (illness) is questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Thunder.
Markkanen’s late addition to the injury report doesn’t bode well for his availability against OKC. If he’s ultimately ruled out, the Jazz could give more minutes to Kyle Filipowski and Kyle Anderson.
  • UTA Power Forward
Kyle Filipowski had 32 points (12-of-17 FGs), six rebounds, five assists, one block and three three-pointers in the Jazz’ 111-105 loss to the Hornets on Friday.
While the Jazz ultimately lost the game, Filipowski’s 32 points in 30 minutes were a game-high. The 21-year-old power forward took full advantage of the Summer League rules and committed eight personal fouls. Filipowski figures to be one of the Jazz’ primary backup big men this year.
  • UTA Center #24
Walker Kessler (illness) is out for Friday’s matchup with the Nuggets.
Unsurprisingly, Kessler will miss the second leg of Utah’s back-to-back set after landing on the injury report late on Friday afternoon. In his absence, Oscar Tshiebwe, KJ Martin and Kyle Filipowski should pick up the slack by committee.
  • UTA Power Forward #23
Lauri Markkanen (ankle) is questionable for Monday’s matchup with the Bulls.
Markkanen has appeared in three straight games after missing nine in a row, but he could sit out for the second leg of Utah’s back-to-back set. If he’s ruled out, Brice Sensabaugh and Kyle Filipowski could see increased run.
  • UTA Center #24
Walker Kessler (illness) and Lauri Markkanen (back) are questionable for Monday’s matchup with the Trail Blazers.
John Collins has already been ruled out, and if Kessler or Markkanen are sidelined, Utah’s frontcourt would be mightily shorthanded. Players like Cody Williams, Kyle Filipowski and Micah Potter could help to pick up the slack, though none of the trio would be a particularly attractive streaming option.
  • UTA Power Forward #20
John Collins (illness) and Walker Kessler (left shoulder contusion) are out for Monday’s matchup with Milwaukee.
With both big men sidelined, Kyle Filipowski and Drew Eubanks should see increased run. Filipowski has appeared in seven games with at least 25 minutes played and averaged 9.7 points and 8.0 rebounds in the process. Eubanks has averaged 12.5 points and 8.0 boards in two games with the same number of minutes, but Eubanks has shot-blocking upside that Filipowski doesn’t. Neither are tremendous streamers, but Eubanks is the preferred option if you’re looking to stream a Jazz center.
