Rookie Luke Jackson has decided to have surgery on his sore back on Thursday.
A recovery time of two to three months is expected, so Jackson could return before the end of the season, but he won’t have any fantasy value.

The Raptors are reportedly interested in shooting guard Luke Jackson.
It looks like Cleveland would get Aaron Williams back in return, but this trade would have very minimal, if any, fantasy impact.

Manu Ginobili (back) will not travel to New Orleans for the season opener and will be reevaluated on Thursday.
Ginobili has dealt with back spasms throughout his career, and while the Spurs were downplaying Manu’s absence, it sounds like he could be dealing with something more serious than previously reported. We’re concerned since he’s being ruled out for the opener, and there is a very real possibility that he’ll be out longer than that. Danny Green, Stephen Jackson and Kawhi Leonard should all see a boost in minutes with Ginobili sidelined.

Cavaliers placed forward Luke Jackson on the injured list with right knee patella tendinitis.
Jackson has averaged 3.0 points in nine games.

Cavaliers placed forward Luke Jackson on the injured list with right knee patella tendinitis.
Jackson was supposed to be one of the most NBA-ready players in the 2004 draft, but he hasn’t been able to find his way into Cleveland’s rotation. He played in just one of the first five games.

    Cavaliers activated Luke Jackson.
Apparently he’s moving ahead of Sasha Pavlovic in the Cavs rotation. But he’s still far from being a factor.

Luke Jackson, who had played five minutes the whole season, got nine minutes against the Bulls Saturday night.
The No. 10 overall pick scored seven points to the delight of the crowd, but has a long way to go before he’s a rotation regular.

Manu Ginobili (hamstring strain) will miss three-to-four weeks.
Brutal. Gregg Popovich hinted that it would be “weeks” rather than “days” for Manu to get back, and a three-week absence puts him out of commission for the regular season as well as potentially the beginning of the postseason. The Spurs will do everything possible to get Ginobili ready for the playoffs, but he may not be ready when the Spurs’ first series starts. Without Ginobili in the lineup, the Spurs will rely more on guys like Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard, Stephen Jackson and Boris Diaw.

Tim Duncan (knee) and Kawhi Leonard (knee) will not play on Monday.
We noted earlier that it was possible Duncan would be rested, and that is exactly what the Spurs will do. Leonard will also sit with a sore knee, and this comes on the heels of each playing yesterday before the team has a back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday. Without them, Tony Parker will be asked to do a lot of heavy lifting and guys like Danny Green and Stephen Jackson will see more playing time than usual.
