DeMar DeRozan still is fired up about being traded from Toronto — a city he represented like no other basketball star ever had — to San Antonio. He felt betrayed and lied to in how it went down.

In the hours after he learned about the trade, he reached out to friends Kyle Lowry (still a Raptor) and Rudy Gay (a Spur), DeRozan told Chris Haynes of ESPN in an interview for SportsCenter.

He also sat down with rapper and mogul — not to mention Toronto native — Drake.

Yeah, day it came out, I went to Drake’s house. Me and him sat and talked for a couple of hours. Not even on some hoops stuff. Just to hear the words that come from him being the person that he is in this world, especially in Toronto. What I meant to this city. It was what I needed.

DeRozan expressed what was “In My Feelings” and Drake got it.

DeRozan just needed someone to talk to, like we all sometimes do, he just did it with Drake. Which speaks to the impact DeRozan had in Toronto.
