DeMarcus Cousins hasn’t sounded pleased with the Kings in quite some time.
But it appears Sacramento’s offseason coaching change – firing George Karl and hiring Dave Joerger – is turning Cousins’ attitude.
James Ham of CSN California:Joerger is attempting to convert him to a high-post center, which might play perfectly to Cousins’ strengths.
“I love it, I love it...I love it,” Cousins said.
Joerger’s system is probably more conducive for Cousins, so it’s unsurprising the skilled center is embracing his new coach.
But what happens if Cousins’ high-post role doesn’t result in wins, because the talent behind him is so weak? Will he still feel so positively about the Kings? Losing exacerbates problems, and it says here Sacramento is bound to lose plenty this season.
The Kings can’t ask for a better mindset from Cousins right now. But they also should have already seen enough from him (and themselves) to know it might not stick throughout the year.
