On Jan. 10, if a guy on an NBA roster has a non-guaranteed contract, it becomes fully guaranteed for the year.
To allow for time for a player to clear waivers before that happens, players on non-guaranteed deals being cut loose on Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be others, the deadline is 5 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The first wave of that has started and the biggest name out there is the Knicks center, Samuel Dalembert. This was expected but has been confirmed by Marc Stein of ESPN.
Toure Murry, I'm told, has officially cleared waivers. Samuel Dalembert, Andre Dawkins & Brandon Davies have likewise been formally released

Hearing new free agent guard Toure Murry is re-entering @nbadleague and that Knicks' affiliate in Westchester is likely to land his rights

Dalembert is a shadow of himself as a defensive presence in the paint, but it is very possible some team will take a run at picking him up and seeing if he can help a little.
Davies is the former BYU star who had been a member of the Nets this season.
Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel had some interesting thoughts on the guys Miami cut loose.
Andre Dawkins formally waived. Still can be re-signed or offered up to two 10-day contracts. Wonder if Heat now revisit Toure Murry.

So the two shooting guards selected to back up Wade (Shannon Brown, Andre Dawkins) now have been released. Once again, Chalmers or bust.
