At age 36, Kobe Bryant is averaging 35.4 minutes per game, and the workload is catching up to him. Now, Lakers head coach Byron Scott says he’s going to give his aging superstar a night off every now and then, just to keep him fresh. He won’t play tonight against the Warriors.
It’s a smart move by Scott and the Lakers. They’re one of the worst teams in the NBA, but Bryant is still a marquee attraction, and giving him a night off here and there during the season is better than his body breaking down as the year progresses.
Byron says Kobe is sitting out vs. Warriors tonight “just to give him a little bit of rest.”

Byron said he might have to sit Kobe out periodically this season--and control his minutes. (About time.)
