It’s looking like the Cavaliers will be at full strength sooner rather than later. They got Iman Shumpert back for Friday night’s win against the Magic, and head coach David Blatt has strongly hinted that Kyrie Irving could be back by Christmas. He won’t play on Tuesday against the Celtics, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer‘s Chris Haynes speculates that a likely return date would be December 20th against the Sixers:
Whatever the exact date is, it seems like Irving will be back soon. It would be fantastic if we could get a full-strength Cavs team playing the Warriors on Christmas.
“We’ve still got some things that we want to go through with him before we let him get back out there,” Blatt said, “but he is looking good and feeling good.”
There’s a chance he takes the court against Oklahoma City at The Q on Thursday, but it’s more likely that next Sunday, Dec. 20 at home versus Philadelphia is the target date. Either way, it pretty much ensures the three-time All-Star will be in the starting lineup Christmas Day against the defending champion Golden State Warriors.
