LeBron James’ son, LeBron James Jr., is pretty good at basketball.

He’s also 10 years old.

So of course college coaches are prowling.

LeBron, via Mike Sullivan of CBS Detroit:

“Yeah, he’s already got some offers from colleges, it’s pretty crazy. It should be a violation, you shouldn’t be recruiting 10-year-old kids.”

LeBron Jr. couldn’t make a binding commitment for several years, anyway. The only point of recruiting him now is to get an inside track for when he can sign, which could backfire if this early pursuit bothers LeBron.

Ohio State coach Thad Matta has already begun that process. Obviously, other coaches have followed.

I’m with LeBron: The NCAA – which claims to care for the welfare of athletes and prospective athletes – should ban coaches from recruiting players so young. Of course, in reality, the NCAA is focused on different issues.
