The Lakers met with LaMarcus Aldridge at midnight on Wednesday, and by all accounts, things didn’t go so well. The Lakers want a do-over, and they’re getting one, according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski:

This might just be to save face. It’s hard to see what a second meeting will accomplish. According to reports, the reason the first meeting left Aldridge unimpressed was because the basketball side of the Lakers’ pitch was lacking. Nothing about that has changed in the first day and a half of free agency. The Lakers’ roster still isn’t very good, and they don’t have a clear plan for the future. They aren’t going to come up with some new analytics that spin “Hey, did you know Carlos Boozer is a proven All-Star?” and “Check out Bob Sacre’s bench celebrations!” and “Nick Young has the most swag per 100 possessions” as anything resembling a basketball situation that is appealing to someone like Aldridge, for whom winning seems to be the biggest priority. The Lakers’ best bet is to just move on and chase other free agents. There are plenty of guys out there that would be easier to get than someone who clearly isn’t interested.
