Tobias Harris shines at NBA Summer League

LAS VEGAS -- Tobias Harris was unable to find a consistent spot in the Milwaukee Bucks’ rotation last year, leaving him Summer League this season to hope he can show the team he’s worth playing consistently next year. That trek continued on Wednesday afternoon in the Cox Pavilion.

The second-year wing played more minutes than anyone else in the afternoon matchup between the Bucks and Washington Wizards and, in a move that won’t surprise most who have followed his career, he did quite a bit with the time he was given. The 6-foot-8 wing followed up a 19-point performance in his Vegas Summer League game earlier this week with a 24-point, 12-rebound performance in his second game of the exhibition season.

Harris’s effort came in a loss, but there was at least a lot of effort given. The combo-forward showed an ability to do the little things while scoring both with his jumper and also the post on a couple of occasions. Along with his scoring he just seemed to be making the right decisions, playing solid defense, crashing the boards and -- perhaps most importantly -- looking like should look in this setting: the best player on the basketball court.

It’ll be interesting to see if he’s able to break into the Milwaukee rotation this season considering the changes they’ve made, but there’s little doubt he has the skills to make that a possibility if he’s able to sustain some confidence over the rest of the week.
