In looking at Derrick Rose’s game winner for the Bulls Wednesday, I questioned the wisdom of Milwaukee not doubling him and making any other Bull beat you.

The Clippers did that — they started to gravitate toward Deron Williams and if he had gone to shoot two or three defenders would have been there to cut off the drive and challenge the shot. But that comes with the risk of leaving other guys open — Williams recognizes the play and hits Jordan Farmar with a beautiful bounce pass and he drains the shot with .02 left to give the Nets a 101-100 win.

(LeBron James haters take note, with the game on the line and seeing the double team, Deron Williams passed to the open man for the game-winning shot.)

There’s a reason the best teams don’t always have the best records in close games — other teams can make plays if you let them hang around. The Clippers are learning — the best teams have a lot of comfortable wins and don’t put themselves in this position often. Because you never know when Jordan Farmar will beat you from two feet behind the arc.
