NBA Playoff Highlights

What are odds the Heat set new consecutive wins record? About 6/1.

If the Miami Heat are going to set a new NBA record with 34 consecutive wins, it will happen April 9 in Miami against the Bucks.

That’s 11 games and a few weeks away, what are the odds they can make it?

How about 6/1?

That’s the odds at Bovada, showing you the bookmakers know it is still a pretty long way to the promised land. There are road games in Chicago and San Antonio, there are back-to-backs, and there is the need to start getting players rest before the playoffs. Plus, other teams are motivated against the Heat right now — look how well both the shorthanded Celtics and the 76ers played the Heat in the last week.

If Miami gets to 34, it’s only five more games until the end of the season. You can get 10-1 odds the Heat close out the season without a loss. The under/over bet on the win streak is 29.

What are the odds on the Heat to win the NBA title? 11/10. Which means bet $100, win $110. Not much return on investment, but that’s where the public’s mind is about who wins it all this year. (I say public because odds are about public perception and earning the house an edge, although to be honest most basketball insiders think it’s the Heat then everyone else, too.)
