Bowen was available to play, but he was limited by the injury and the Nuggets decided to give him at least five games off.

Bowen was placed on the injured list Feb. 29 because of what was termed left-knee patella tendinitis. He’s not a fantasy factor.

Bowen missed two games with a lingering sternum and abdominal contusion, but he did play Saturday. If Bowen goes on the injured list, Denver may sign former Mavericks guard Adam Harrington or NBDL Fayetteville guard Devin Brown to a 10-day contract.

The Nuggets likely will try to re-sign Bowen. They were afraid that he’d be picked in the expansion draft if they kept him. With Bowen off the roster, the only Nugget who will be available to Charlotte is Jeff Trepagnier.

It’s no sure thing that Bowen will be activated. Because the Nuggets have little to play for, there is a possibility Bowen will remain on the sideline for the final three weeks of the season.

GM Kik Vandeweghe said he is uncertain whether Bowen will return to action this season.

He’ll have no fantasy value, and not all that much value to the Rockets either, as he’ll play strictly off the bench.

The hip is going to be sore for quite some time, meaning Bowen, who doesn’t have much fantasy value when healthy, isn’t worth drafting this season.

The Nuggets, Heat and Sonics were among the teams that expressed interest in signing Bowen to a minimum deal. He won’t get any additional money by picking Houston, but he might receive more playing time.
