Hawks GM Travis Schlenk says that he’s excited about the Hawks possibly getting to play the last five games of their season in hopes of seeing Clint Capela play with guys like Trae Young and John Collins.
“Our guys are excited about the opportunity to get back to it,” Schlenk told ESPN. “It has importance for us. We’re a young team, and because of injuries and some other things this season, we didn’t get to see them all together. Clint [Capela] says he’s feeling better, and there’s a possibility that we can get him back on the court. Practicing and playing five games would be valuable to us.” Capela, who has yet to debut for the Hawks after being traded to Atlanta from Houston, hasn’t played since suffering a serious heel injury in December. And while he’s not completely healthy yet, there’s a chance he could get some run if the Hawks are allowed to play out the final five games of this season.

Travis Schlenk has been promoted to President of Basketball Operations and has agreed to a multi-year extension with the Hawks.
“We are extremely pleased with the direction that Travis and our entire basketball operations team has us heading as a franchise,” said Principal Owner Tony Ressler. “He has used the draft to build an impressive young core, hired one of the NBA’s top young coaches in Lloyd Pierce and positioned us to have the cap space, draft picks and financial flexibility needed to have long-term success in the NBA.”
