Eagles hired former NFL QB Alex Tanney as their quarterbacks coach.
Tanney was an Eagles offensive quality control coach in 2021 and assistant quarterbacks coach in 2022. The NFL journeyman played for nine different teams, throwing only 15 passes in actual NFL games, in a nine-year career. He’s likely next in line for the Eagles OC role if Brian Johnson is able to parlay it into a head-coaching gig as Shane Steichen did last season.

Reserve Giants QB Alex Tanney is retiring after nine seasons.
The 33-year-old recently signed a reserve/future contract but has decided to hang up his cleats after failing to see the field in 2020. A true journeyman backup, Tanney retires with 15 career attempts to his name, 14 of which came with the Titans in 2015. A 2012 UDFA, it’s miraculous Tanney lasted as long as he did.

Giants signed QB Alex Tanney, CB Quincy Wilson, WR Alex Bachman, LB Trent Harris, DB Montre Hartage, DB Jarren Williams, LS Carson Tinker, G Kenny Wiggins, TE Rysen John, RB Taquan Mizzell, DT David Moa, G Chad Slade, and QB Clayton Thorson to reserve/future contracts.
Bachman, Harris, Hartage, and Williams each appeared in one game for the Giants this season. Harper joined the team on October 1 and notched two tackles (and a fumble recovery on special teams) across nine appearances. Tanney is expected to revert to the practice squad.

Giants exercised Alex Tanney’s 2020 team option.
He’ll make a non-guaranteed salary of $950,000. His lone one-yard completion last year apparently blew the organization away.

    Giants waived RB Austin Walter.
This would indicate that Saquon Barkley (ankle) is nearing a return. QB Alex Tanney—who was cut when Walter signed earlier this week—will absorb his spot on the active roster. Walter didn’t play an offensive snap in Thursday night’s loss to the Patriots.

Giants waived backup QB Alex Tanney.
Tanney was waived to make room for RB Austin Walter. Tanney has thrown 14 regular season passes since entering the league in 2012.

Giants re-signed QB Alex Tanney to a two-year contract.
He’ll likely battle Kyle Lauletta for the Giants’ third quarterback job behind Eli Manning and whatever rookie GM Dave Gettleman lands on in the draft.

The Bills have invited undrafted free agent QB Alex Tanney to their upcoming rookie camp.
Tanney generated some hype last year for a trick shot video on YouTube, and fits the Bills’ recent history of taking fliers on small-school types. A four-year starter at Monmouth, Tanney owns the Division III record for passing yards, and his 157 career touchdowns are the all-time NCAA mark. A solid showing could earn Tanney some practice squad consideration.

Chiefs signed Monmouth QB Alex Tanney.
Tanney generated buzz with a trick shot YouTube video, but was also prolific as a four-year starter. He owns the Division III record for passing yards, and NCAA record with 157 career touchdown passes. Tanney will need the Chiefs to sour on Brady Quinn or Ricky Stanzi to have any shot at a roster spot, however.

    Cowboys waived QB Alex Tanney.
The Cowboys will only keep two quarterbacks for the second straight season. Tanney, 25, could be a candidate for practice squad.
