Jets WR AD Mitchell is active for Week 11 against the Patriots.
It’s an intriguing situation. The crafty route runner and problematically error-prone player has a chance to carve out a starting role on his new team. Jets No. 1 WR Garrett Wilson (knee) was placed on injured reserve earlier today. For those needing a wide receiver stash candidate, Mitchell fits the bill, though expectations must be tempered. The Jets declared CB Azareye’h Thomas, RB Khalil Herbert, LB Ja’Markis Weston, EDGE Braiden McGregor and TE Jelani Woods inactive for Week 11 against the Patriots.
  • NYJ Cornerback
Jets HC Aaron Glenn said Azareye’h Thomas (concussion) will not play in Week 11 against the Patriots.
Thomas is in the league’s concussion protocol after going down in Week 10’s win against the Browns. With the Jets slated to play on Thursday against the Patriots, the short turnaround was always going to make it tough for Thomas to clear protocol in time for Week 11. Thomas played on 24 defensive snaps in Sunday’s win and has seen an increased role in the Jets’ last three games after playing primarily as a backup through the first six weeks of the season.
  • NYJ Cornerback
Jets CB Azareye’h Thomas suffered a concussion in New York’s Week 10 game against the Browns.
Thomas looked like he was going to be backboarded in the second quarter before thankfully making his way to the sideline under his own power. The No. 73 overall pick of the draft, Thomas had been playing roughly 30 weekly snaps but is ticketed for a bigger role in the absence of Sauce Gardner.
  • Jets signed No. 7 overall pick OT Armand Membou to a four-year contract.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports Membou’s deal is worth roughly $31.9 million. The Jets now boast a top-flight offensive line, keyed by its offensive tackle tandem with OT Olu Fashanu on the left and Membou on the right. The unit should provide Justin Fields with comfortable pockets in 2025. The Jets also signed third-round CB Azareye’h Thomas and fourth-round S Malachi Moore to four-year contracts.
  • NYJ Cornerback
Jets selected Florida State CB Azareye’h Thomas with the No. 73 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
A former four-star recruit, Azareye’h is the younger brother of Dallas Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas. He started just one game in 2023 despite racking up 10 PBU for an unbeaten FSU team before ascending to the top of the depth chart last year. Thomas responded with 52 tackles, 16 stops and a 22.6% forced incompletion rate. The longest reception he allowed in 2024 was 21 yards, with an average of 8.3 yards per reception when targeted. The Honorable Mention All-ACC performer did surrender a 50% open target rate, which is down from 26% in 2023. He ran a 50th% 4.56s 40-yard dash with a 70th% 4.21s shuttle for a respectable 8.16 RAS. Prototypical, filled out frame with long, probing 32 3/8th” arms to harass receivers at the catch point. Loose hips help him adjust on the fly, and Thomas likes to pop opposing receivers and get up in their kitchen on press reps. Loping strides can cause problems tracking thorough breaks and marginal speed could cause problems staying attached on go-balls. A still young and emerging player who is just 20 years old, Thomas has dependable CB2 potential. His a moldable press coverage maestro for a coach in Aaron Glenn who prefers such an approach.
