Cowboys waived LB Chris Covington and CB D.J. White.
Covington was a sixth-round pick in 2018 and appeared in just eight games for the team, getting in on only 29 defensive snaps. White was signed to a reserve/futures deal after the season ended.

  • Cowboys selected Indiana OLB Chris Covington with the No. 193 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Covington (6’2/245) arrived at IU as a quarterback, tore his ACL as a freshman, moved to linebacker as a sophomore, and became a starter as a senior, earning Hoosiers defensive player of the year and honorable mention All-Big Ten with 12 tackles for loss and three sacks. PFF College also gave Covington elite grades in pass coverage. A late bloomer after the early injury and position switch, Covington offers an intriguing size-speed (4.78) combination for a special teams contributor with upside for more down the line.
