Former first-round pick Craig Davis is currently the only veteran receiver at Chargers OTAs.
RFAs Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd are unsigned and Legedu Naanee is rehabbing from foot surgery, so Davis is getting all the first-team reps. “This is the best I’ve ever felt, especially my body,” said Davis, who’s been an oft-injured bust to this point. “I’m still young, I have a bright future.” Davis could make a run at Naanee’s third receiver job in training camp.

The Chargers are close to signing first-round rookie WR Craig Davis.
The LSU product is expected to receive about $7.8 million over five years and the deal could be announced on Monday. Davis and incumbent Eric Parker are likely battling to start opposite Vincent Jackson.

Chargers signed first-round WR Craig Davis to a five-year contract.
His deal is expected to be worth roughly $7.8 million. Despite receiving far less fanfare than Dwayne Bowe, Davis was considered the surest-handed LSU wideout and has better speed. Eric Parker is a competent starter who has an advantage over Davis now, but should eventually give way.

Chargers receiver/punt returner Eric Parker will be sidelined up to ten weeks after undergoing surgery on his toe Friday.
Parker had missed all of training camp to this point with a cracked “sesamoid” bone in his right big toe. He could be back sometime in Octobery, but is no longer draftable in any fantasy league format. First-round pick Craig Davis is likely to start in Parker’s place.
  • BUF Wide Receiver
Craig Davis (ankle) missed Chargers practice in its entirety Wednesday.
The rookie is expected to face the Broncos Sunday, but would be a poor fantasy start. Davis only has made seven receptions through four games.
  • BUF Wide Receiver
Chargers WR Craig Davis (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 5. He did return to practice Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday.
It’s beginning to look like the rookie may not suit up against Denver, which would be a terrible matchup anyways. Davis is officially considered a game-time decision. Usual third receiver Malcom Floyd may be set to start.

Craig Davis (ankle) missed practice again Thursday.
Now Davis’ availability for Week 5 is less certain, although Chargers coach Norv Turner has been upbeat about his situation in interviews. The rookie from LSU would be replaced by Malcom Floyd if he sits out Sunday’s game.
  • BUF Wide Receiver
Chargers WR Craig Davis (ankle) sat out practice Thursday.
The rookie Davis, who is expected to be demoted from the starting lineup following San Diego’s acquisition of Chris Chambers, is uncertain to play against the Texans. It’s possible that the Chargers will use Malcom Floyd, instead of Davis, in the third receiver role going forward.

Chargers president Dean Spanos says first-round receiver Craig Davis has “really” stuck out so far at the team’s organized offseason activities.
“I was really impressed with Craig Davis, his size and his speed,” Spanos said. “It looks like he could be an exciting player for a long time.” Davis and incumbent Eric Parker are likely battling to start opposite Vincent Jackson.
