    Cowboys signed RB Demetris Summers.
Because he’s a tailback, we have to pay attention. The former prep school and S. Carolina stud has had troubles with marijuana on the past, but will compete for a roster spot as a fourth running back in Dallas.

Demetris Summers went through practice Saturday “as if in second gear.”
At one point, RBs coach Anthony Lynn told the troubled undrafted rookie to “Come back and do it again – you’re not running today.” Summers, who dropped a pass when he did “come back,” is not getting off to a good start in his attempt to make the Cowboys.

Cowboys RB Demetris Summers was late to his first day of Cowboys practice.
Not a good way to win a roster spot. “We will see how he does here. He is day-to-day. I mean that. He is day to day,” coach Bill Parcells said. “I think he understands. He was late for the first day of the job so he needs to understand.”

    Cowboys released RB Demetris Summers.
Tom Lemming’s former No. 1 overall prep prospect didn’t impress the Dallas coaching staff. He could end up on someone’s practice squad.

Cowboys invited undrafted free agent RB Demetris Summers to camp.
After being rated Tom Lemming’s No. 1 running back recruit coming out of high school, Summers got off to a hot start at South Carolina, earning All-Freshman honors in 2003 and leading the Gamecocks in rushing as a soph. He was kicked off the team in 2005 when he tested positive for marijuana. Summers could push Tyson Thompson to be the Cowboys third tailback.
