ESPN’s Rob Demovsky believes the Packers are “clearing the way for Matthew Golden to move up the depth chart.”
The Packers let Romeo Doubs walk in free agency and just traded away Dontayvion Wicks, so this isn’t exactly groundbreaking news. Still, fantasy managers are keeping close tabs on the Golden drumbeat after his dreadful rookie season, and this qualifies. Golden was limited to 361 yards in 2025 and struggled to find a consistent role in Green Bay’s crowded receiver room. Now there are no excuses for the former No. 23 overall pick. Golden will likely be stuck in a downfield role in his second season, but he has the speed to make the most of those opportunities. Fantasy managers should treat him as a boom/bust WR4 for now, though that could change in either direction very quickly.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #13
Eagles acquired WR Dontayvion Wicks from the Packers in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter breaks the news, adding that Wicks will now sign a one-year, $12.5 million extension with the Eagles. Over the last four weeks, they also signed WR Hollywood Brown and WR Elijah Moore as well. Schefter reminds us that if the Eagles were to trade away WR A.J. Brown, that would probably happen after June 1st, “when the cap burden would be more manageable for the Eagles.” As things currently stand, Wicks will likely compete for WR3 duties. The trade also leaves Packers WR Christian Watson, WR Jayden Reed and WR Matthew Golden as the team’s top-three options after allowing WR Romeo Doubs to sign with the Patriots last month. The Eagles tacked on an additional year to Wicks’ contract after the deal, tying him to the franchise through the 2027 season.
  • FA Running Back
Falcons hosted Arkansas RB Mike Washington Jr. for a top-30 visit on Friday.
Washington also has top-30 visits lined up with the Buccaneers, Packers and Seahawks. Washington stands 6'1/223 and turned heads at the NFL Scouting Combine by running a 4.33-second 40. Per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Washington is projected as a Day 2 pick. In his final college season, Washington rushed 167 times for 1,066 yards and eight touchdowns and caught 28-of-36 targets for 226 yards and one touchdown.
  • FA Defensive Tackle
ESPN’s Ryan McFadden reports Duke DT Josiah Green is “a name to monitor” for the Raiders.
Per McFadden, Green met with Raiders representatives after his impressive Pro Day showing last week. Green performed very well in the speed, agility and jumping drills. He also tied the Duke Pro Day bench press record with 36 reps. The Raiders representatives expressed their “love for his athleticism” during the meeting. He has also reportedly met with the Eagles, Bears, Steelers and Packers. Green spent 2022-2024 playing at Dartmouth before joining the Blue Devils last year. In 2025, he totaled 30 combined tackles, 11 solo tackles, four TFLs, 22 quarterback pressures and four sacks.
  • GB Wide Receiver #13
ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports there are “rumblings about a potential trade” for the Jets at wide receiver, and that Dontayvion Wicks and Brian Thomas Jr. are “among the names bandied about.”
We don’t really believe Thomas is on the table unless the Jets are going to give up a first and more, but Wicks is an attainable option for the Jets. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Wicks is available in trade ahead of free agency. Wicks is entering the final year of his rookie contract and isn’t considered a building block for the Packers, so he’d probably only cost a Day 3 pick if the Jets were interested.
  • GB Quarterback #10
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said the team would “strip everything down” on offense in 2026.
During a Monday interview LaFleur said Green Bay would “strip everything down and start like it’s Year 1 all over again” on the offensive side of the ball a year after the Packers had the NFL’s fourth highest EPA per play and fifth highest offensive success rate. “I just think reinstalling and trying to go through — it might take a little bit more time — but really get into the detail because that’s usually the separator,” LaFleur said. It’s an interesting offseason tidbit that would lead to a new-look Green Bay offense under Jordan Love in 2026. That could mean a slightly less run heavy approach, perhaps, after the Packers had the seventh lowest pass rate over expected in 2025. The Packers will likely be forced to increase WR Matthew Golden’s role after losing Romeo Doubs to New England in free agency.
  • GB Head Coach
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said some Green Bay players were “upset” about their roles on the team in 2025.
LaFleur, who received one of the league’s lowest end-of-season grades from his players, said Monday that unhappiness with individual roles played a factor in team chemistry last season. “If I’m being honest about it, I think there were some guys that were upset about roles last year, and I think that took a toll on our football team,” LaFleur said. “You need guys that bring great energy every day. I think from a coaching standpoint, role clarity is key, so we’ve got to obviously do a better job communicating with our players, ‘Hey, here’s your role and if you’re unhappy about your role, it’s on you to do something about that, to carve out a role on this football team.’ But yeah, the buy-in is absolutely critical. Getting guys in there that are juiced and ready to go to work each and every day is gonna be critical for us.” While LaFleur did not name names, it seems reasonable to suggest Romeo Doubs, who left the Packers for the Patriots in free agency, was among those unhappy with their roles. Meanwhile, first-round rookie WR Matthew Golden last year ran a route on just 58 percent of the Packers’ drop backs and Christian Watson had a meager 67 percent route rate.
  • GB Defensive Lineman #1
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said “everything’s good” with Micah Parsons’ rehab as he recovers from a torn ACL.
Gutekunst declined to put a timeline on Parsons’ return, but he said the team is hopeful for a quick recovery for their star pass-rusher, who was injured in Week 15 last season. Injuries aside, things were going about as well as the Packers could have hoped for Parsons when they went out and traded for him last offseason. He amassed 12.5 sacks in the 14 games he appeared in while posting 41 tackles in total along with 12 TFLs. Given the timing of his injury, it wouldn’t be surprising if Parsons were sidelined at the beginning of camp and/or the regular season but it sounds like everything is moving in the right direction.
  • FA Quarterback #18
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said the team has discussed the possibility of adding Kirk Cousins as a backup QB.
Gutekunst said the team has “discussed a lot of those options” at backup, with Cousins presumably being one of many names the team has tossed around. Cousins is familiar with head coach Matt LaFleur, as the two spent time together from 2012 to 2013, when both were in Washington. LaFleur was Cousins’ QB coach during that two-year span, and the familiarity with LaFleur’s offensive system would make for an easy transition for Cousins, who seems more likely than not to land somewhere as a backup in the coming weeks/months. With Malik Willis now and Miami, Cousins would make a ton of sense for a team in need of a seasoned vet.
  • GB Defensive Lineman #1
The Athletic’s Matt Schniedman reports Packers EDGE Micah Parsons (knee) is expected to miss the first three or four games of the season.
Parsons suffered a mid-December ACL tear, so this is a reasonable timeline to return. We’d be surprised if Parsons avoided the PUP list at the start of training camp, but it seems like he won’t miss too much of the 2026 season. It’s possible that the Packers add a depth piece after the draft to play next to Lukas Van Ness early in the year.
