Raiders signed K Greg Joseph to the team’s practice squad.
The move comes after Daniel Carlson missed a critical field goal in Week 10’s narrow loss to the Broncos. Carlson has made just 12 of his 16 field goal tries this season while missing one extra point. It looks like the Raiders could be ready to move on from Carlson if he misses a kick in Week 11 against the Cowboys. Joseph appeared in eight games in 2024, attempting 20 field goals and converting 16 of them.
  • Free agent K Eddy Pineiro worked out for the Bills on Thursday.
Fellow free agent kickers Zane Gonzalez and Greg Joseph also worked out for the Bills. Incumbent K Tyler Bass struggled last season and dealt with a pelvis injury in training camp. The Bills are likely just covering their bases, but Bass could be a risky fantasy pick at this time.

    49ers released K Greg Joseph.
A journeyman kicker who spent time with three different teams last season, Joseph is now in search of a new home. Joseph appeared in just eight games in 2024, attempting 20 field goals and converting 16 of them. He’s a lifetime 82.3 percent kicker on his field goal attempts and is 17-for-30 in his career on distances of 50-plus yards. With plenty of teams out there who could use an upgrade at the position, it wouldn’t be surprising if Joseph joined another camp in the coming days in hopes of landing on a 53-man roster. In addition to Joseph, the 49ers also let go CB Tre Avery, WR Isaiah Neyor, QB Tanner Mordecai, and TE Mason Pline.

49ers K Jake Moody changed his kicking style this offseason.
Set to face a training camp competition with journeyman Greg Joseph for the Niners’ starting job, Moody recently told The Athletic that he had shifted from a three-step approach to a two-step approach in a bid to exchange distance for more accuracy in 2025. Moody, taken in the third round of the 2023 draft, was a total disaster in 2024. Struggling with a lingering ankle injury he suffered in Week 5 against the Cardinals, Moody missed ten of his 34 field goal tries. That included a three-miss game against the Bucs in Week 10. He made just five of 11 kicks between 40-49 yards last season. “It’s unacceptable to be kicking the way I was the second half of the year,” Moody said. “I don’t know if I lost any confidence, but stuff always creeps into your head, especially after missing a bunch of kicks.” Moody still has a chance to start for the 49ers in 2025 if he can get back to form in July and August.
  • SF Kicker #40
    49ers signed K Greg Joseph.
The 30-year-old journeyman spent time with each of the Giants, Commanders and Jets last season. He’ll serve as a veteran, in-house option should third-year pro Jake Moody look shaky this summer after an underwhelming 2024.
  • NYJ Kicker #9
Jets placed Greg Zuerlein (knee) on injured reserve.
Greg Joseph will be kicking for the Jets this week against the Dolphins. Zuerlein was activated off injured reserve last week and was technically active, but did not participate in the game as all as Thomas Morstead handled kickoffs and the Jets did not attempt an extra point after falling behind 40-0.
  • NYJ Kicker #46
    Jets signed K Greg Joseph.
Joseph, a journeyman who has had stints with the Giants and Commanders this season, is in line to replace Anders Carlson as New York’s kicker in Week 17 after Carlson missed field goal tries in back to back games, including a fourth quarter miss last week against the Rams. Joseph most recently mad two of his three field goal attempts in Week 15 against the Saints as Washington’s kicker. Joseph could be the fifth kicker to suit up for the Jets in 2024.
  • WAS Kicker #47
Commanders K Zane Gonzalez (foot) is inactive for Week 15 against the Saints.
Gonzalez is dealing with a left foot injury and was listed as questionable entering the weekend despite being a full participant in Thursday and Friday’s practices. Apparently unwilling to risk it, the Commanders have opted to sit Gonzalez for Week 15, thus forcing newly-signed vet Greg Joseph into the role. Joseph has converted on 13-of-16 field goal attempts this season while playing with the Giants while making all six of his extra point attempts. In addition to Gonzalez, the Commanders also declared WR K.J. J Osborn, QB Jeff Driskel, CB Michael Davis, LB Dominique Hampton C Tyler Biadasz, and DT Phidarian Mathis inactive. Biadasz was reportedly dealing with an illness that struck over the weekend, which led to the team holding him out after pre-game warmups.
  • WAS Kicker #47
Commanders K Zane Gonzalez (foot) is questionable for Week 15 against the Saints.
After some thorough research, the foot appears to be vital to the kicking operation in football. Gonzalez is dealing with a minor issue in his plant (left) foot that shouldn’t force him to miss Week 15’s game against the Saints. If he can’t suit up, the Commanders signed Greg Joseph to their practice squad as an emergency option.
  • NYG Kicker #34
Giants placed K Greg Joseph on injured reserve.
Joseph signed with the Giants in the middle of September following a quad injury sustained by Graham Gano. He will now miss the next four games, at minimum while on injured reserve, opening the door for Jude McAtamney to make his professional debut in Week 9 against the Commanders.
