Kevin Pierre-Louis (groin) exited Week 2’s game against the Broncos and was ruled out.
The veteran had three tackles before leaving in the third quarter. The Texans are deep at linebacker and should be able to absorb the loss fairly well, Blake Cashman looked to be getting most of the snaps replacing him. Pierre-Louis was one of several Texans released by Nick Caserio at last cuts that re-signed with the team after cutdown day.

  • Texans released LB Kevin Pierre-Louis.
Pierre-Louis agreed to a restructured contract this offseason, but the move wasn’t enough to keep him on their roster. He appeared in nine games for Houston last year, playing almost exclusively on special teams. Once rosters are settled, Pierre-Louis could find a home as a special teams player and reserve linebacker.

  • Texans restructured Kevin Pierre-Louis’ contract.
Pierre-Louis was set to make $3.5 million, but that has been cut to $2.4 million in exchange for the Texans guaranteeing $1.2 million of it. The veteran linebacker and special teams maven barely saw the field on defense for the Texans last year, getting just 29 defensive snaps. He turns 31 in October.

  • Texans placed LB Kevin Pierre-Louis on injured reserve with a thigh injury.
The free agent addition was sidelined for Week 1. The fact he did not spend Week 1 on I.R. suggests he may be able to return in the minimum of three weeks.

  • Texans signed LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, formerly of the Washington Football Team, to a two-year contract.
The deal is worth “up to” $8 million. No word on what the actual base value is. Pierre-Louis played over 500 snaps for the Football Team’s defense last season, mostly lining up in the box but also spending some time in the slot. That versatility is why he’s signing a Day 1 contract, even if it’s modest. Last year was nearly double Pierre-Louis’ previous career best snap total. He turns 30 in October.

  • Redskins signed LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, formerly of the Bears, to a one-year contract.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the deal is worth “up to” $3.45 million. A 28-year-old journeyman reserve/special teamer, the Redskins will be Pierre-Louis’ fifth team in five years. He did provide some much-needed snaps for the Bears’ banged up linebacker group in 2019.
  • Bears signed LB Kevin Pierre-Louis to a one-year contract.
Pierre-Louis spent last year as a deep reserve with the Jets. He’ll compete for a special teams role in Chicago.
  • Jets declined their 2019 team option on LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, making him a free agent.
Pierre-Louis made nine appearances last season, playing 35 snaps on defense. He had been due $2 million in 2019. That was never going to happen after that light of a 2018 workload.
  • Chiefs acquired LB Kevin Pierre-Louis from the Seahawks in exchange for LB D.J. Alexander.
A former fourth-round pick, Pierre-Louis has appeared in 34 games over the past three seasons, mainly earning his keep on kick coverage. That will be his role in K.C.
  • Seahawks signed No. 132 overall pick OLB Kevin Pierre-Louis to a four-year contract.
Pierre-Louis (6-foot-0, 232 pounds) showed ideal athleticism at the Combine, running 4.51 with a 39-inch vertical and highly explosive 10-foot-8 broad jump. He’s more of a finesse defender than thumper, but has tools to become a standout special teamer, and perhaps a starting “Will” linebacker down the road.
