Saints punter Mitch Berger was involved in an altercation with Cowboys mascot “Rowdy” before last week’s game.
Rowdy tried to block a Berger punt during pregame warmups and knocked Berger to the ground. Berger smacked the guy in the head a few times while screaming at him, but was unable to take off his mask. We’d pay to see the video footage.

Cardinals signed P Mitch Berger, formerly of the Saints.
Berger, 35, spent all of last season on injured reserve before being waived by New Orleans in April and hasn’t punted since. He replaces Mike Barr.

Broncos signed P Mitch Berger, formerly of the Steelers.
The release of Brett Kern comes next. Kern was 11th in the NFL with a 46.1-yard average, but his net was 34.5 and Denver was displeased with his low trajectory. Darren Sproles returned one of Kern’s Week 6 punts for a TD.

Steelers signed P Mitch Berger and waived WR Gerran Walker and LB Anthony Trucks.
Berger will compete with Paul Ernster to start in Pittsburgh following Daniel Sepulveda’s season-ending injury. Berger, 36, is unlikely to be nearly as effective. Trucks and Walker were practice squad types.

The Broncos will try out free agent K Mike Vanderjagt on Monday.
Vandy worked out for the Chiefs a week ago. He would add competition for Matt Prater in Denver. Punter Mitch Berger will also try out for the Broncos Monday and the team has scheduled a tryout with ex-Cardinals P Mike Barr.

The Patriots visited with free agent punter Mitch Berger Tuesday.
The 35-year-old Berger punted in five games with the Cardinals last season after spending most of his career taking advantage of domes. Chris Hanson is currently the Pats’ only punter, so they are considering other legs for camp.

Steelers released P Mitch Berger and signed P Paul Ernster.
Pittsburgh grew tired of Berger’s ongoing hamstring problems.

Steelers signed P Mitch Berger and released P Paul Ernster.
It’s the second time the Steelers have made this transaction this season. Ernster punted horribly against the Bengals last week, averaging less than 30 yards a try, and Berger is finally over his hamstring problems.

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels confirmed that Mitch Berger will punt this week even though the team signed Britton Colquitt Wednesday.
McDaniels, who criticized Berger’s punting after last week’s game against the Eagles, says there are no plans to activate Colquitt. It looks like Colquitt is just waiting in the wings as Berger, 37, reaches the end of the line.
