Giants traded up with the Browns to select Notre Dame WR Malachi Fields with the No. 74 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Fields (6’5/218) has elite size for an outside receiver and uses his size to outwork defenders in press coverage and win contested catches. He won’t blow past too many defenders, as evidenced by his 4.61 40-yard dash, but what Fields lacks in speed, he makes up for with acrobatic catches and good ball awareness to beat his defender. Fields totaled 800-plus yards and five touchdowns in his final two seasons at Virginia (2023-2024), and while his final season at Notre Dame (36-630-5) didn’t feature quite as much production, it’s worth pointing out that his routes run and targets both took major hits in Notre Dame’s run-heavy scheme. Fields’ size makes him a challenge for opposing defensive backs to bring down, which also helped him average 5.2 yards after the catch in his final two seasons. In addition to the physical traits Fields offers as a receiver, John Harbaugh will love his willingness to contribute in the running game, which could go a long way in earning him a meaningful role in a talent-depleted Giants receiver room.
  • NYG Cornerback
Giants selected Tennessee CB Colton Hood with the No. 37 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
A transfer from Colorado in the offseason, Hood (6’0/195) delivered a Second Team All-SEC campaign as Tennessee’s top boundary corner, pairing physical press play with disciplined eyes in off-coverage. He was targeted on just 10.8% of his coverage snaps yet still excelled at ball production, allowing just 21 completions on 45 attempts for 295 yards with one interception and 10 passes broken up, holding opposing passers to a stellar 40.1 defensive QBR. He earned a 79.0 defensive grade which was reinforced with 50 total tackles, a 6.7 percent miss rate and 20 defensive stops. Hood also flashed in the disruption department, stacking 15 havoc plays including 2.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles, showing he wasn’t just a coverage specialist but a full-service perimeter defender. The Vols standout ran a respectable 4.44s 40-yard dash with a superb 40.5-inch vertical to show off that athleticism in Indianapolis. Hood excelled defending vertical routes and consistently competed at the catch point, resulting in one of the SEC’s cleaner season-long performances at corner. He should settle in as a dependable second corner, with eventual top-corner upside.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan said he is watching Washington WR Denzel Boston and Ohio State DT Kayden McDonald “closely at the top of the second.”
Raanan posted the note in response to his own social media post from earlier today, where he said the Giants looked into moving back into the end of Round 1. He believes they “could be aggressive early here at the beginning of the second round.” The front office wants to “add a weapon” for QB Jaxson Dart.
  • NYG Outside Linebacker #5
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that the Giants “have engaged in trade conversations involving EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, and the Saints are among the teams showing strong interest.”
Quite the development. Just last night, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Giants do not intend to trade Thibodeaux. The 25-year-old pass rusher was rumored to be available via trade earlier this offseason. After the Giants traded away DT Dexter Lawrence, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Giants were “considered less likely” to trade him away, though. The Saints’ edge rush was viewed as a position of need entering the 2026 NFL Draft. New Orleans Football’s Nick Underhill adds that the Saints inquired about trading for Thibodeaux and believes that “the price might have to dip a little to make it happen.”
  • NYG OFFENSIVE TACKLE (SUB)
Giants selected Miami OT Francis Mauigoa with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Despite still being just 20 years old, Mauigoa (6’6/335) is one of the most experienced offensive linemen in the class, starting 42 games across three seasons while anchoring the Hurricanes’ right tackle spot. The massive blocker steadily improved his performance each season, culminating in an 82.6 overall PFF grade in 2025 with an elite 87.0 pass-blocking mark and 77.1 run-blocking grade, showcasing a well-rounded skillset. Mauigoa allowed just 3 sacks and five hits on 1,948 pass-blocking opportunities over the last two years. His testing backs up his standout play with an 8.75 RAS with a 5.13s forty (82nd-percentile), 4.59s shuttle (88th-percentile), and solid explosion numbers (29" vertical, 8’10” broad), rare movement skills for a 335-pound tackle. He possesses heavy hands and a sturdy anchor that neutralizes bull rushers while keeping the pocket stable for his quarterback. In the run game, he flashes a finisher’s mentality, generating movement at the point of attack and using his mass and leg drive to collapse edges. While Mauigoa’s size and power profile fit conceptually at right tackle, John Harbaugh said after the pick that he will start his career at right guard. Given the draft capital spent to acquire him, Mauigoa will likely get a shot at right tackle sooner rather than later.
  • NYG Outside Linebacker #5
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Giants do not intend to trade EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Schefter broke the news moments after the Giants drafted Ohio State LB Arvell Reese with the 2026 NFL Draft’s No. 5 overall pick. Reports from earlier this offseason indicated Thibodeaux was available via trade, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that a trade was “considered less likely” after the team traded away DT Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals. A shoulder injury sidelined Thibodeaux from Week 11 and on last year. He totaled 32 quarterback pressures and three sacks before that.
  • NYG Linebacker
Giants selected Ohio State LB Arvell Reese with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Reese (6’4/241) is perhaps the most toolsy hybrid defender in the 2026 class, pairing rare height/weight/speed traits with true alignment versatility after logging snaps both on the edge and off-ball for the Buckeyes. Reese delivered a well-rounded 2025 campaign with a 75.8 overall grade, elite 86.5 run-defense mark and 85.6 tackling grade while generating 27 pressures, eight sacks and 34 defensive stops across 651 snaps. His production profile underscores a high-floor run defender who rarely whiffs (just a 6.0 percent missed tackle rate in 2025) and consistently leverages his length and violent hands to stack, shed and control the edge. As a pass rusher, his game is still rooted in athleticism and closing burst rather than sequencing, but his ability to bend short corners and generate pressure from multiple alignments. Reese projects as a multi-faceted chess piece with three-down potential whose elite physical tools, tackling efficiency and run-defense reflects an upper-tier starter profile as his pass-rush plan continues to mature.
  • FA Wide Receiver
ESPN’s Pete Thamel believes Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson will be drafted between picks 5-10 in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Giants are currently slated to pick at No. 5 overall—and again at No. 10 overall. Tyson has previously been linked to the Saints at No. 8. Both the Browns (No. 6) and the Commanders (No. 7) are in the market for a wide receiver, and ESPN’s Mel Kiper mocked Tyson to the Chiefs at No. 9 roughly one week ago. As long as Tyson’s injury history is acceptable, he seems likely to be drafted in this range.
  • FA Defensive Tackle #95
Free agent DT Benito Jones visited the Giants on Tuesday.
Dexter Lawrence is gone, the Giants are searching for bodies. Jones has not cracked a higher PFF grade than 53.3 in any of his five years in the NFL, but has hung around in a rotational role with the Dolphins and Lions.
  • FA Wide Receiver
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. worked out for the Giants on Monday.
Beckham’s rumored interest in returning to his former team seems to have taken another step, as the Giants had him at the facilities today for a physical and a workout. The 33-year-old receiver was unsigned during the 2022 and 2025 seasons, and when we last saw him in Miami, he offered little to be impressed with, catching 9-of-18 targets for 55 scoreless yards in a limited role. If he does re-sign with the Giants, Beckham will likely do so on a one-year deal with a chance to earn a role in camp. Given his injury history, age, and time away from the game, it’s genuinely hard to imagine him offering much to an NFL offense at this stage in his career.
